Earth Movers

Earth movers which fall into the category of heavy equipment, are vehicles or machines used for digging up and transporting mud or earth. Usually found on construction sites. Jagged metal baskets or attachments can be used for trenching and breaking up hard soil and rock and in one way they work like cranes. They do the work of bulldozers and can also carry mud and soil to other locations.

Large boulders and rocks can be easily moved with an earth mover.

Usually, special training needs to be given to the driver, who has to both drive and operate the device.

Textile graphics or textile art

These are graphic representations of the textile industry. Some of the illustrations are from cotton looms and some are simply that of folded fabric. This first one creates a geometric picture of thread being woven. Original photographs of a high resolution are available on which this textile art is based.

Hand Pump Sketch and Line Drawing

Here are sketches of a modern hand pump, still frequently used in Indian villages. This is a more modern design. The handle has to be lifted up and then down to suck out the water from the well.

Microbrewery in Pune and Bangalore

These are pictures of the equipment or machinery that is found in a microbrewery. A microbrewery is a brewery which produces limited amounts of beer on a small scale. These photos are of large cylindrical machines that make beer. Strictly speaking these are brew pubs because when a brewery functions as a beer pub or beer bar then it's called a brewpub. The term microbrewery is used when beer is distributed beyond the four walls of the brewery. In this case the brew is not distributed outside, even in small quantities and therefore the term brewpub is more appropriate.

The advantage of freshly brewed beer is well, it's fresh, without additives, and has delicious flavors.

This brewpub image is that of a place called Toit on 100 ft road in Indira Nagar, Bangalore. The beer is brewed in smart steel shiny cylinders inside the pub. These beer making machines or beer making equipment looks very well maintained.

Closeups of airplanes

These are close-up pictures of parts of an airplane. The body, the nose, the side, the tail and the wings of an aircraft.

This is a close up view of an aeroplane from the one end. It was taken from the back airstair or aircraft boarding staircase. A part of the wing is visible, as are the oval windows that become smaller and smaller as they go off into the distance.

This image is a photograph of the television screen on the front seat as we were landing. The front wheel of the airplane can be seen as it nearing land. Some aircraft have a camera underneath the body of the plan which captures the landing and the wheels touching down. And some show the tape to the passengers.

This is a picture of an aircraft's wing from a window when it is flying. As it is about to land you can see the changes happen in the structure of the wing. The flaps seem to be opening.

This picture was shot from the aircraft window as the plane was landing. You can see the parts of the machinery underneath the wing exposed. These flaps usually open up when the plane is landing to reduce the speed of the aircraft.

The image is a long shot. A large part of the plane wing forms the bottom of the image and gives it a dramatic touch. It was shot at  Bangkok airport and the wing flaps are closed.

Winery Pictures

These are photographs of a wine-making factory, the Sula winery in Nasik, Maharashtra India. The process of making wine involves the fermentation of grapes, and then blending and aging of the juice. These particular photographs are of the Sula Winery at Nashik. The grapes used are from the vineyards owned by the winery.

Here is a glimpse of inside the winery. It is in these massive steel containers that the crushed grapes are kept for several weeks until they ferment the right way. It was interesting to find out that grapes are never washed before they go into the fermentation process. They say that they are clean and that the pesticide is never used before the plucking, but living in India I have my doubts.
grape juice fermentation

A closer look at the huge steel drums where the crushed grapes are stored until they ferment.

This is the place where the wine is bottled after being blended. The blending process is as important as the fermentation as different blends are what make each wine distinct. These machines are very large and the figures of the workers can be seen here near the machine, supervising the automated process. Hygiene is maintained by using caps and gloves although the wine is not handled directly.

This picture was taken in a small town in North India. Hand pumps are fairly common in Indian villages and small towns. In cities however the municipal water supply can be relied upon.
