These are panoramic views of the city of Bangalore or Bangaluru as it is now known. These photographs are taken from the terrace of a hotel in the Ulsoor area. you can see some tall buildings on the horizon but most of the buildings in this photograph are of small bungalows which Bangalore is famous for.

Monaco city landscape

Urban Scenes can look ugly, or pretty. Monaco, a sovereign city state on the French Riviera in Western Europe is certainly pretty. Bordered by France on three sides, with one side bordering the Mediterranean Sea, it is a tourist hub, and well, a tax haven as well.

In this photograph you can see the coastal road snaking around the hill-side. Most of the buildings appear to be orange and red in colour.

Halasuru or Ulsoor Lake in Bangalore

Ulsoor Lake is now known as Halasuru lake. It is in the heart of the city, near MG road and is one of Bangalore's bigger lakes. As can be seen from these bird's eye view photographs the lake is surrounded by urban structures. A pretty lake in the midst of buildings.

Grasse in France

Grasse is a town in France considered the capital of perfume. For several hundred years this place has had a flourishing perfume industry.
Although there is nothing much else of tourist interest in Grasse (except a cathedral) people do come to see the perfume factories and how perfume is made. The town itself is surrounded by hills and is a picturesque place.

This urban landscape shows you the neat buildings with the hills and sky in the background.

Silhouettes of the London Skyline

This is a black and white silhouette of a skyline which is representative of London city. The Tower Bridge in the background and the river Thames in the foreground. This bridge is often mistakenly called the London Bridge.

This is a silhouette of an ordinary street scene in London but some typical London sights are silhouetted against the sky. The London Eye can be seen silhouetted in the background and in the foreground there is traffic and buildings, a typical London telephone booth and a double decker bus.

Florence city bird's eye view

These are panoramic views of the beautiful city of Florence in Italy. It is on the banks of the river Arno, which can be seen in the photos. Florence is famous for its art and architecture.

This image has been stitched from two single shots and give a fairly close view of the various steeples, churches, buildings and also the river and the bridge. They would make good headers for websites or blogs.

This photo has been stitched from 5 pictures, and is a long shot of the city, with the trees in the foreground.

This is a close-up of the river Arno which runs through the city of Florence. Several bridges connect both sides of the city on the two banks.

Aerial view of Khopoli town in the western ghats of Maharashtra

Here is a panoramic bird's eye view or aerial view of the small town of Khopoli at the base of the Sahyadri mountains of the Deccan in West India. Khopoli is an industrial town in Maharashtra, India, and at the bottom of the Sahyadri mountains, nestled deeply in the mountains and lies on the way from Mumbai to Pune. It has a population of less than 1 lakh. 

Here you can see the beautiful blue sky and the lush green hills as they look during the monsoons. The picture was shot in 2012.

Bangkok Skyline Pictures

These are photographs of the Bangkok skyline, the capital of Thailand. Here you can get a panoramic and breathtaking view of the skyscrapers of  Bangkok far into the distance.

Here is a snapshot of Bangkok skyscrapers against a blue sky with palm trees in the foreground. Makes a pretty picture!

Kuala Lumpur Skyline at Night photo and colored illustration

The Kuala Lumpur Skyline looks spectacular mainly because of the Petronas Towers. At night specially these towers shine brightly and cast a glow over the city. They are very brightly lit. The images below capture this phenomena. The first looks like a photograph and indeed it is a photo, although tweaked slightly.

Kuala Lumpur Skyline Sketch and Silhouette

These is a silhouette of the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. It shows the outline of the Petronas Towers which are the tallest twin buildings in the world and have now become symbolic with Malaysia. The silhouette is a wide angle view of a large number of buildings including the towers.

This is a sketch of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. It encompasses a smaller cluster of buildings as compared to the silhouette above.

Kuala Lumpur Skyline

These are photographs of the skyline of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. It shows the Petronas Towers amidst other high-rise buildings and skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur. These are the tallest twin buildings in the world and are now an iconic landmark of Malaysia.

Hong Kong Skyscrapers

These are photographs of the skyscrapers in Hong Kong.

This is a photograph taken at dusk and you can see Hong Kong buildings silhouetted against the dull  sky.

In this picture you can see the tall skycrapers of Hong Kong in the foreground and in the distance too. There is a bay inbetween. These look like residential buildings mostly.

Urban Thane - bird's eye view

Thane lies at the head of the Thane Creek and is surrounded by the hills of Yeoor. Thane Creek runs through the city, which is a stream of water from the Ulhas river and Arabian Sea. The city has around innumerable  lakes. The Upvan Lake is located at the foot-hills of Yeoor hills and a popular recreation place for Thaneites. In the background of this image you can see the Yeoor hills and also Neelkanth Heights, the skyscrapers in the distance at the foot of the hills and Upvan lake. The lake itself is not visible in the photograph which was taken from one of the top floors of an apartment in one of the skyscraper towers of Hiranandani Meadows.

This photograph captures the old and new modern Thane very well. The old in the background at the Yeoor foothills and the brand new skyscrapers now dotting the city.

Athens bird's eye view

Athens is the capital of Greece and its largest city. It is of significant historical importance with many ancient monuments. It is one of the world's oldest cities, going back around 3,400 years. There are a lot of ancient ruins in the city of Athens.

These two panoramic views of Athens city show modern Athens with its short white buildings. The glimpse of the sea can be seen in the background.

Another view of the city of Athens. The ancient Athens auditorium is in the foreground with the city in the background. They say Athens is a city of ruins, and it is, but worth seeing these treasures. It's a vacation one will never forget.

Lavasa hill city near Pune

A city project under development called Lavasa has been in the eye of controversy and has come under the scanner for dubious land deals and environmental damage, all involving politicians. The objective is to develop a pretty city both as a getaway for tourists and also a place where people can live in beautiful surroundings. This project has temporarily been suspended although people do go there as hotels are operational. More about the corruption here.

This is an overview of the main promenade and hotels. When we visited the river bed was dry. You can see white sun umbrellas on the wide Lavasa promenade where people relax and enjoy the view. On one side are the hotels and on the other side is the river bed. People pass the time walking up and down the promenade. A young hip crowd mostly although I am not sure why they like Lavasa. There is nothing here. Certainly not nature. It's nature ruined.

This is a facade of one of the hotels. All kinds of restaurants are active here and some of them are very fancy ones.

For some odd reason the architecture has been copied from some western cities. Most buildings are tall and narrow structures with little or no ventilation. The rooms are claustrophobic with the narrow windows and almost non-existent balconies. Great for cold weather, but not comfortable for the hot Indian weather. Some folks might not have a choice when it comes to buying a tiny flat with poor ventilation as a home in a crowded city, but why would they go to a hotel over the week-end where the rooms do not let in air? Specially as the idea of coming to Lavasa is for enjoying nature?

I could not help but laugh when I saw the names of the streets! Are people really impressed with these fake names?

This is a view of another hotel at Lavasa. They say it's better that the ones at the Promenade but we never went there.

Now the ugly side of Lavasa. The breaking down of the hills and ruining of the environment is in full swing. However environmentalists have halted the construction activity. Today a lot of Lavasa looks like this. Half complete. The houses on the hillside are incomplete shells. There is no one living there.

This is a sad sight. Actually digging into the hill to make space for a building. I am not an environmentalist but even to my layman's eyes it didn't seem right.
