Flower Arrangement in pots

Just flowers floating in pots is a common flower arrangement but here too artistry is involved. Different colours need to be harmoniously alighed and placed. here the red and white petals add to the decoration.

Three gray stoneware flower pots with floating flowers make a pretty picture. When not many flowers are available, petals fill the gap.

And the flowers need not be expensive ones. Here are simple inexpensive flowers which make this pretty flower arrangement.

A strange flower

This one is an odd looking and weird flower! Despite looking on the internet I could not find a similar one so it's a flower without a name. Saw it in Thane. It looked a bit like an orchid, but I don't think it is one. It's got a green stem and the buds are round green balls. The petals are orange, pink and red and the centre you can see violent filaments with yellow tips. The petals look like giant tongues, all curled up, as if waiting to strike. The ovule is a light pink. A good example of a flower for students if they are trying to identify the different parts because all the parts are so in your face!

A close-up of the flower which actually looks ugly despite the multitude of colours. It appears to have teech and a tongue and a mouth! A predator of some sort? The top of the petal looks green and the inside looks red, giving the impression of a mouth.

Lotus Beds in a water canal

The Lotus plant grows in water, and the white and pink lotuses are the national flowers of India and Vietnam, respectively. Wonder if that is because its seeds can germinate even after a thousand years! These pictures can also be used as backgrounds.
This photograph is of a water canal with growing lotus plants floating on the surface of the water.

This is a closer look at the plant and one of the pink lotus flowers. However the flower is not a fresh one and is a little withered, its pink petals wilting. The dried seed head is visible though, which are much like the a lemon with pins! On some of the stems you can see the dried seed head only as the petals have withered and fallen off.

Sunflower photos

Sunflowers are not native to India and are rarely seen unless one goes to cultivated fields. They are most used to extract sunflower oil which is popular in India as a cooking oil.

This is a sunflower field near Nashik, also spelled Nasik.
In these photographs the sunflowers look a little droopy as if unable to bear the hot sun. Scraggly too with very few petals.

The rest are close-ups of a large sunflower. This particular flower is bending down, almost shyly.

Small colorful flowers for backgrounds

These pictures can be used as backgrounds for blogs and websites. They can also be used for designs and borders and greeting cards. The uses are multiple, and I have large high resolution pictures of these with me in case anyone requires them.
These plants appear to be related to the cactus family as the leaves and stems are thick and absorbent.

Free photographs of White Flowers

These free images of white flowers can be used as backgrounds for any other purpose.

This is Bougainvillea plant, a type of woody vine which can grow up to 1-12 meters high. There are various species, and the photographs below are of the tropical woody Bougainvillea from India. White Bougainvillea is most common although this flowering vine has flowers of different colours. You can see some orange and yellow flowers in this primarily white Bougainvillea.

Brown butterfly on small pink flowers

These are some images of a brown butterfly feeding on tiny pink flowers. The soft brown coat with the tiny yellow dots is clearly visible as are the large round black eyes. The spidery thin legs are lightly perched on the petals. There is one long antenna which goes in a curve into the petals. Wonder what species of butterfly this is. The photograph was taken in Kamshet district in Maharashtra, India.

In this picture the butterfly can be seen from the side. It looks almost human or at least some kind of alien being! The coat could well be a robe being swept in the wind, and it appears at a cursory glance as if it has just two legs. The butterfly seems to be walking on the petals.

This is another image of a brown butterly, a different species. It is a very tiny one and perched on a dried leaf which is lying on dry grass.

Bougainvillea Bonsai

This is a photograph of the pink Bougainvilla plant. It is a bonsai, a miniature Bouganvillea. From my dad's garden. I have a much larger (3mb) pic with me of this very photo. Note the beautiful pink petals and the tiny white flowers in the midst of the pinkness.

Flower pots with floating flowers

Here are some high resolution images of flowers in their pots, without stems. The shots were taken from above. The original photos vary from 1-2 mb and the originals have not been posted here. The ones on this post are however fairly high res and the first two pictures can be used for headers with a little cropping.

The first two pictures are of the Gerbera flowers, belonging to the Sunflower family. The clarity of the pics is good and thus they can easily be used for headers.

Am not quite sure of the names of the flowers in the pic below, but they seem to be two different species. This picture being less clear than the ones above, it was difficult to identify them. The yellow and oranges ones appear to be marigold and the pink seem to be tiny roses.

Chapha the tropical flower, Plumeria in English

These are close-up high resolution photographs of yellow white and purple Chapha flowers, commonly found in India and other tropical countries. The flowers are usually yellow or white but at times you find purple and pink ones too. One of the pictures here is of the purple Chapha. The Chapha is called  Plumeria in English.

Yellow Plumeria flowers with buds

This photo of the purple or violet plumeria is my favourite one. I liked the composition, the blue sky taking up a large space in the picture and the camera angle showing the flowers from underneath. Here the stark contrast between the large leaves and small flowers is evident. It has been given a certain effect on photoshop, using the paint photo tool.

Flowers with special effects useful for simple header images

These images are of flowers hung like a garland across a doorway. I have tried some special effects with them so they become more interesting. Perhaps they could be useful for someone looking for simple header images. I have a large size in case someone is interested.

This one is like a painted flower doorway.

Unusual Hibiscus

This Hibiscus flower is of a freaky colour, all by itself! I guess you can call it a mutant as some of it petals are red and some yellow. Maybe it's the only one of its kind in the world! I think it is very beautiful and unique. From my dad's terrace garden.
These flowers are native to tropical climes.
